AchactDonations was born from a simple conviction: that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and care — and that together, we have the power to make that real.
A neighborhoodbecame a movement.
In 2012, a group of twelve neighbors gathered around a kitchen table in Houston, Texas, alarmed by the growing number of families in their community who couldn't afford regular meals. They started with $800 in pooled savings and a determination to act.
What began as a weekly food distribution at a local church parking lot grew into AchactDonations — a full-service nonprofit addressing the interconnected challenges of poverty: hunger, lack of education, and limited healthcare access.
Today, we operate across 38 communities, employ a staff of 47, and mobilize 600+ volunteers annually. Every program we run is grounded in dignity — treating the people we serve as partners, not recipients.

2012
Founded by a coalition of community leaders in response to local food insecurity.
2015
Expanded to 12 communities and launched our Youth Education scholarship fund.
2019
Reached 25,000 individuals served and launched mobile healthcare clinics.
2022
Opened our first dedicated community center and disaster relief program.
2025

Elena Reyes
Executive Director
Elena has led AchactDonations since 2016, growing the organization from 3 staff to 47. She holds an MSW from UT Austin and has 18 years of nonprofit leadership experience.
Marcus Johnson
Director of Programs
Marcus oversees all three core program areas. His background in public health and community organizing brings both rigor and heart to program design and evaluation.
Priya Nair
Chief Development Officer
Priya leads fundraising strategy and donor relations. She joined AchactDonations in 2020 after 10 years in foundation philanthropy and has raised over $8M for the organization.
